I know, I know. “Fish puree” sounds like something you are going to run to the kitchen and make right now, right? So, let’s call it “Prepared Tuna Salad” instead.

Think about it. That’s what this recipe really is. Tuna salad that has been finely chopped by pureeing it. Of course, you can use other fishes as well.

Everyone knows that eating fish has several health benefits. But, often, people on a pureed diet haven’t foundĀ a way to add fish to their diet in an appetizing way. I think this recipe helps.

Most fish purees quite easily because it naturally falls apart into smaller pieces. Just make sure it is cooked well if you are using your own. If you are using canned fish, drain it very well so that you don’t end up with a soupy puree.

A mid-priced food processor is my pureeing device of choice and is what I used to make this recipe. Blenders or hand blenders would work too. But, food processors are just so much easier to clean and get the food out once you are done.

This is just a simple, quick, and easy fish puree recipe. You can use leftover freshly cooked fish for this or keep it really simple with canned tuna or salmon.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup cooked or canned fish tuna or salmon, drained well
  • 1 tablespoon reduced-fat mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon green onions chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Place your cooked or canned fish in a food processor, and process until it becomes smooth.
  2. Place in a bowl and stir in the mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.
  3. Garnish with finely chopped green onions.
